Einav Gefen

SVP Chef Innovator, Restaurant Associates

Einav was born and raised in Israel. Twenty two years ago, Einav and her boyfriend (now husband) packed two suitcases and moved to NYC so she could attend culinary school. Since then, they got married, had three kids, moved to NJ and adopted two dogs. Einav is dedicated to her personal and professional growth and her mantra is, “I never lose, I either win or learn”.

As a human, Einav believes she has a responsibility to give back, as a person she has the passion and the desire to drive change for the better. She would like to look back one day and know that somehow, somewhere she helped make a difference. Einav’s personal and career paths have collectively equipped her with many useful tools. As a chef, she lives and breathes food. She knows the importance of taste and the many ways one can drive flavor. As a CPG executive, Einav understands scale, food safety, stake holder management and the impact a single action can bring. As an advocate for more sustainable kitchen culture, she knows the value and benefit of the right work environment and the importance of respecting and recognizing individuals for the success of a business. As a female leader, Einav knows the challenges of navigating dedication to both her family and career and recognizes the importance of work/life balance.

Her journey has taught her about the American consumer and the complexity of the food service systems. Additionally, it has shown her the many flaws of our food system and why what looks like common sense is not common at all – democratizing healthy food.

Who We Are

The Chef Ann Foundation is dedicated to promoting whole-ingredient, scratch-cooking in schools. Scratch-cooking enables schools to serve the healthiest, tastiest meals so that kids are well-fed and ready to learn.

Our Mission

Ensure that school food professionals have the resources, funding and support they need to provide fresh, healthy, delicious, cook from scratch meals that support the health of children and our planet.

Why School Food Matters

American kids start their life-path in K–12 schools where they learn the skills necessary to thrive & meet their potential. While the country debates the best ways to teach them math, science & English, we spend little to no time on food & nutrition.
