What People Are Saying
With four active programs, we work with many school food professionals, food partners, and parent advocates. Here are just a few testimonials, from their perspective, about how we’re changing school food together.
“With the help of the Chef Ann Foundation, we’ve implemented a 6 week menu cycle for lunch and planned the menu for the entire year in advance; we’ve narrowed down our menu choices to items that are made in our own kitchens and drive participation. We were also provided an RFP template to assist us in seeking a new menu planning software. We awarded the bid in June and are in the data entry stage now!
“We are excited for the upcoming upgrade in our menu planning, ordering and inventory processes and building efficiency with site level tasks. I can’t explain how informative, beneficial, and invigorating this whole experience has been. It’s really made me a better director and leader and I can see my staff are happy with the changes I’ve put into place thus far.”

We are now able to give our students more options when it comes to fruits and vegetables. Students have been seen taking more than just one fruit or vegetable and they love the variety. We don’t see nearly as much waste now that we have many options versus only two options for fruit and veggies.
We have seen a huge decrease in the amount of food being thrown away. Our students are eating healthier and filling up on nutritious foods that keep their brains alert and active throughout the whole school day!
Our schools actually eliminated canned fruits and started using fresh or fresh frozen fruits and vegetables. Our food cost actually dropped this year.
School Food 101 inspired me to use more scratch cooking in our cafeteria and be a little more innovative with our menus. After taking the course, I have developed a new logo and overall vision, mission, and strategic plans for our cafeteria for the next few years that I hope will empower my staff and make a difference in our community.
The most valuable thing I learned were the basics of how food service works in schools and what laws and regulations control how things are made and reported.
Your website is impressive and I love the huge emphasis on nutrition education. I think this is a key component of salad bar success!
I love everything you do! I want to be an example for children and parents...I will be making a book of all your recipes for my kitchen to use.
You have a wealth of valuable information for school districts to use. Thanks for all you do in providing schools with the tools they need to provide nutritious meals to our students.
It was an awesome opportunity to provide students with new fruit and vegetable choices and to open their horizons to a variety of options rather than the apple or banana. The Chef Ann Foundation has been a blessing to our school district. There are students everywhere that are not getting the nutrition they need, and Project Produce offers a great way to get it to them!
