Melissa has worked to advance environmental, public health, and social justice initiatives through nonprofit marketing and communications for more than a decade. As Chef Ann Foundation’s new Director of Marketing, she will be working to raise awareness about the benefits of scratch cooking in schools and to connect CAF’s programs and services with the schools and school food professionals they serve.
Melissa comes to CAF with a background in food systems and sustainable agriculture. She previously led communications for Pasa Sustainable Agriculture—a farming research, training, and advocacy nonprofit—and worked with New York City Department of Sanitation’s Bureau of Recycling and Sustainability to support its sustainable food waste programs. She also spent several years co-managing small, organic vegetable and flower farms, and currently serves on the board of her local farmers market in Western Pennsylvania.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys playing the drums, dabbling in all kinds of crafts, reading too many books at one time, and hanging out with her pup, Margot.
