Senior Director of CA Workforce Programs

Emily joined the Chef Ann Foundation in February 2016 as a Program Associate and now serves as Senior Director, CA Workforce Programs. In this role she leads the CA Workforce Program team in implementing the Healthy School Food Pathway program across the state. This program is centered on upscaling the school food workforce by providing professional development and work experience opportunities in scratch-cook meal programs. Prior to this role, Emily spent time working on a majority of the programs within the foundation, including Get Schools Cooking, Salad Bars to Schools and The Lunch Box.

Emily is a huge food systems advocate and sees school food as an integral part of a healthier food system. Prior to Chef Ann Foundation, Emily received her Masters in Food Studies where she studied and researched the potential of connecting local businesses and farms to enhance agritourism efforts and thus, farm income.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys serving on the board of SustainEd Farms, a Denver school garden nonprofit, playing guitar, traveling to the nearest body of water and enjoying good food with friends and family.

Why School Food Matters

American kids start their life-path in K–12 schools where they learn the skills necessary to thrive & meet their potential. While the country debates the best ways to teach them math, science & English, we spend little to no time on food & nutrition.
